Tasty Tuesday--Heath Bars

This recipe is from the catering company that catered our wedding, Hamby's. They are sinfully good.

Heath Bars
2 sticks butter (16 Tbsp), softened
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup self-rising flour
1 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
1/2 cup slivered almonds

Cream the butter, brown sugar, and sugar.

Add the egg yolk and vanilla. Stir in the flour until well blended.

Press the mixture into a 15x10x1 inch jelly-roll pan.

Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.

While the "crust" is baking, melt the chocolate.

Spread the melted chocolate over the baked layer.

Sprinkle with almonds.

Cut into squares while still warm. Allow to cool in the pan before you try to remove them. I think these are best served cold out of the fridge.
